Hi friends!
2025 is our third and final Adelaide Fringe Festival. The venue will close mid year. We will be open for business as usual until June, so please come help us go out with a bang!
After three great years, owner operators Libby Trainor Parker and Matthew Trainor have made the decision not to renew our lease at Prompt Creative Centre on Pirie Street.
We are proud of what we have achieved since we opened our doors in 2022 and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has come to a show, booked the space, attended a workshop, held an event, leased an office, worked the bar with us, or just popped in for a drink and chat.
We are particularly grateful to the Music Development Office for supporting our live music program and Adelaide Fringe for consistently supporting our venue, as well as our artists, our own shows, and always making sure Prompt was valued and included. We also thank Access2Arts for helping us to be an accessible venue for artists and audiences; and City of Adelaide for our Vaulting Ambitions strategic partnership.
Over the past three years, we have had the honour of mentoring artists, hosting their shows, supporting them as they make their stage debut, or create new work, or try new things in a safe space. We feel humbled to have been trusted with your ideas, passions, blood, sweat, tears and masterpieces.
Everyone knows it’s a hard time to be a venue. Long term viability in the current climate takes its toll. We have worked harder than we ever thought possible to make Prompt Creative Centre what it is. The era we are in is a tough environment to sustain a performance venue, and we could not have achieved what we have without you.
As performing artists, parents, and people with lived experience of chronic illness, we’ve made the personal, financial and professional decision to close our doors. We will still be making and producing shows post Prompt and we are looking forward to supporting other independent Adelaide venues.
Until then, though, we ask that you please come to see shows at our venue. Please support the artists who are taking risks and throwing all they have into their work.
If you’ve been meaning to get to Prompt but haven’t been able to pop by yet, please come during Fringe and afterwards.
If you have a show you want to throw on a stage in a supportive environment, hit us up for a booking between April and June.
Thanks again to everyone who has been integral to this venue: to the improv legends, the burlesque beauties, the magnificent musicians, the comics and clowns, our co-workers who became family, and the audiences and guests who cheered, clapped, cried, ate cheese at Collabaret, and threw cash at the bar.
Thank you. We love you. Libby and Matt.
TL;DR – come and spend money at Prompt between now and June and maybe make an offer on the furniture. Cheers.
(Also please come to Endo Days on Friday night which is a last minute addition to our Fringe lineup due to an artist cancellation)
